Get ready to travel across oceans and centuries — without leaving your seat! Kora master Yacouba Sissoko and percussionist Idrissa Koné come from Mali's djeli tradition, where musicians have always been the storytellers, news-carriers, and memory-keepers for their communities. They're joined by Grammy-winning cellist Mike Block, who's played all over the world with Yo-Yo Ma's Silkroad Ensemble. Together they'll fill the room with the ripple of kora strings, the rumble of talking drums, and the shake of the calabash — music that invites kids to clap, move, and discover just how far a song can travel. A joyful, interactive concert the whole family will want to dance through together!
We’ll offer this 45-minute performance twice: first from 10:30–11:15 am for the general public, and again from 12:00–12:45 pm as an AZURE concert designed for the autism and neurodiverse communities.
