The kora has been called the harp of West Africa, but that description barely hints at what Yacouba Sissoko does with it. Paired with cellist Mike Block—one of the most adventurous string players in the country—and percussionist Idrissa Koné, this trio traces a musical journey from the ancient griot traditions of Mali to the crossroads of American folk and jazz. A perfect Friday evening in Noe Valley.
Free admission. No tickets needed. All ages welcome.
